Arts Professionals in Focus Interview

Dangerous to Dance With enjoyed a great run during Theater For The New City’s 2019 “Dream Up” Festival! Here’s an interview I did with ARTS INDEPENDENT: Arts Professionals in Focus.

Opening Night of Dangerous to Dance With- August 30, 2019

Our opening night of “Dangerous to Dance With” at Theater For The New City’s ”Dream Up” Festival was quite a success! A large and very engaged audience enjoyed the craft of our wonderful cast in a great space for theater. I’m looking forward to our final four performances.

GERALD vanHEERDEN (Director) Mr. vanHeerden is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory and an alumnus of Webster University Theater Arts Conservatory. He is an emerging director of New Works. Gerald has a long and storied career in the NYC, Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway theater community, working with original plays and creative musical theater endeavors as Artistic Director of Plays (MITF), Producer/Director (vMHF Theatricals) and Conceptualist/Director (SDC). LUKE HOFMAIER* (Nick): Regional: Chester Theatre Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Berkshire Theatre Group. MARK HOFMAIER* (Harris): has acted Off-Broadway including plays by N. Richard Nash, Hugh Wheeler, John Ford Noonan. Regional: Pittsburgh Public – The Cocktail Hour (with Kim Hunter), Cleveland Playhouse – The Philadelphia Story (with Stephanie Zimbalist), Repertory Theater of St. Louis – Over the Tavern, Fulton Opera House – The Little Foxes. MARK A. KEETON* (Irwin Stratemeyer): (SAG-AFTRA/AEA) is proud to be part of this wonderful show. Selected Stage Credits: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Exonerated. RICH MacDONALD (Understudy): Playwright, painter, actor lives and works in Florida and New York; and thanks Trish, this wonderful company for the  DTDW experience and his friends in the theater Karen and David.

ROUMEL REAUX* (Stage Manager) has worked as a performer, dance captain, assistant director/choreographer, and stage manager on numerous Broadway, Off Broadway, Regional Theater and Touring Productions.

DAVID CHARLES (Associate Director) Upcoming Projects: A Warehouse in Rochester by Bridget Mundy at the United States Solo Festival, Dick Whittington Cums to Hell’s Kitchen by Robert K. Benson at The Duplex. David is an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

HELENE GALEK (Casting Director) Helene is happy to be back with the Dream Up Festival with DTDW after casting the musical The Wrong Box last year! She recently cast Episode 2 for the series, Background, Action! As an actor, Helene did the trailer for the upcoming digital series, Adulting With Jane.

GOOD PEOPLE MANAGEMENT GROUP (General Manager)- Shadows, A Dance Musical (2019 NYIT Award Nominee) Legacy (2018 NYMF Award Winner), The Proust Virus, The Taming of Cats, Crude the Musical, The Cobalteans (2015 NYMF Award Winner), Bayonets of Angst (2014 NYMF Award Winner), Next to Normal.

JOHN DAVID NELSON (Social Media): A theatre writer and Broadway producer/investor for the past 15 years, John launched JDN Digital in 2018 creating and managing digital content in and out of theatre.


JAY MICHAELS (Publicist) took the knowledge he acquired as a stage/film producer, casting director, Broadway/National Tour manager, media-buyer, speech writer/coach, and TV production manager and founded Jay Michaels Arts & Entertainment, creating visibility for self-producing stage artists and production companies on the East & West coasts, in film arenas and authors.

NOAH BOOTHROYD (Graphics): Noah is a web developer/writer who occasionally dabbles in graphic design. Yes, he’s still working on that novel, thank you. Samples of his web work can be found at
